Graduation Requirements

MAHS Schedule Overview

  • Our school operates on a 4x4 block schedule system
  • Most classes are one semester long, allowing students to earn 1 full credit per class
  • Students take 4 classes per semester, which allow them earn a minimum of 8 credits per year.
  • Please check out the MAHS Course Catalog for a description of the academic course sequences and elective classes offered at MAHS. *Please note that course offerings change from year to year and even semester to semester based on staff changes and changes to the master schedule.

Course Requirements

Promotion Requirements:    

  • 10th grade: 6 credits    
  • 11th Grade: 13 credits    
  • 12th Grade: 20 credits
  • Graduation: 28 credits        

Students can earn 8 credits per school year. Students must earn four specific units in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students must earn a required PE/Health course and four CTAE/Fine Art or Foreign Language credits. Students planning to apply to a two or four year college should take two years of the same foreign language for entrance purposes to college. All courses are college preparatory courses.

Adv = Advanced, Gifted = must qualify, AP = Advanced Placement, DE = Dual Enrollment, CTAE Option examples include Food for Life, Food Science, and IT Comp Science. *Algebra I Support and Geometry Support are offered for identified students and count as academic elective credit. They are typically taught as yearlong courses. They typically do not meet math graduation requirements unless specified by an IEP.
